The “hate has no home here” Initiative
A community project that stands up to hate
What: A visible statement of our shared values, protecting the community by publicly standing against hate.
Who: Local organizations, faith communities, state and local elected officials, businesses, and individuals.
Why: Martin Luthur King said, “we must carve a tunnel of hope through the dark mountain”. Hate is an attack on a community’s health. We cannot fortify community values and safety without community voice. Our silence against the onslaught of hate will not protect us. A clear, public and unequivocal statement of shared values is vital. The time to carve this tunnel is now, before the darkness gains greater purchase.
How: Hanging banners and signs, including business window signs, yard signs, that say clearly and directly – hate has no home in our community. This project is simple and declarative. Its intent is to stand up against hate. Together.
